Alan Hunter on 'Representing New Zealand at the 70th commemoration of the Normandy landings.':Alan was the principal of Burnside High School, having prior to that been the principal of Upper Hutt College. He has had a very active & very long retirement: A Bishopdale Tramper compiling a book of writings about their tramps; a member of the Riccarton Genealogy Club, going on to found the Bishopdale Genealogy Club.
In World War 2 he was trained as a Canterbury Regiment infantryman & wrote a history of that group for a later reunion. Then he transferred into the Royal New Zealand Navy and was on a minesweeper off the coast of Normandy during the D Day landings.
