Advance Care Planning

Jane Goodwin BN (Hons), MHealSc, is the CDHB Advance Care Planning facilitator, chairs the national ACP Steering Group and is a member of other leading national ACP groups.Advance Care Planning (ACP) supports people to think about, talk about and share their thoughts and wishes about the type of medical care and treatment they would want to receive in the future. In particular, towards the end of their life or in situations where they were unable to express their wishes. This session will cover: the background of ACP and the NZ context, the legalities, the value of ACP, documenting and sharing ACP wishes and the outcomes of ACP in Canterbury.

New Zealand Division on the Western Front in 1918

We now know about Gallipoli 1915, The Somme 1916, and Passchendaele 1917 – but 1918? Largely a blank - except somehow the war ended. Yet the Division was central to the halting of the German’s March-April Spring Offensive, the stabilising of the line in May-June, and spearheading the August-November 100 Days Offensive. And the casualties were as heavy as ever in this horrendous war.
