John Burrows on 'New Challenges for Media Law.'Media law is concerned with the protection of freedom of the press, and the limitations the law needs to place on that freedom. But this law has to change to keep pace with changes in society and changes in technology. Technology has created major challenges, because the internet has not just changed, it has revolutionised, the dissemination of news, information, and opinion. The traditional rules of media law are constantly being amended and added to to cope with this new beast. In some areas the old rules, and even the amended ones, are barely coping at all. The lecture will look at where this has led us, and ask what if anything we can and should do about it. Organiser: Pat and Peter Braithwaite
